I had asked my parents a few weeks ago, who live in Texas, to ask for tickets for conference and send them to me. My mom sent me 4 tickets for the saturday afternoon session, so i invited my cousin and his wife to go with us since he's never been to conference. My other cousin, Gisel, was going to be singing with the BYUI choir and it happened to be on saturday afternoon. I was so excited i was gonna get to see her. We agreed on meeting somewhere with my cousin Sergio and his wife and driving together since we only had one parking ticket. So the night before, friday, my husband's family came into town from Arizona and his cousins stayed with us for the night. We stayed up late talking and catching up that the next morning i couldn't wake up, but i did and it was too early. i thought ok so I'll shower early so they can have time to shower since i know it takes me like two hours to get ready. I got ready and by the time i finished the first morning session had started, so I went downstairs had some breakfast and watched the conference. Before we knew it was time to leave to meet my cousin at 12 to drive to salt lake and of course we were late! David just showered it was 11:30 and then decided to iron his shirt and pants so on our way there we were speeding of course and utah drivers are not the smartest people on earth! at all..so driving south to salt lake we crossed the double white lines and got on the HOV lane and passed a car and got off again on a double white line, and i thought oh man i don't see any cops, i think we are safe now! and two seconds later ......we hear the cops siren!!!!! man, so we pulled over and he asked what the rush was, i said "we're going to conference and we're late" so he said ok, he came back with a ticket and said "please drive safely" so at least he was fast since we were late!
so around 1:30 we had to be sitting in our seats, well ...we were parking the car at that time and going down the elevator from the 8th floor of the parking lot to the first floor and then walking two blocks north to the conference center. I was running in 4 inch heels! .. we get there and there's this massive line all around the building and we're like no maybe it's for stand by people, well it wasn't. it was for all gates and all sections, they were letting everyone in through two doors only. It was chaos, everyone was running and the line was long and we waited for like 30 mins, so this whole time we're just talking and joking about how stupid it would be if they closed the doors right in our faces, and i said that would be so funny. Fast forward 30 mins later we're like 20 steps from the doors and they close them!!!! and i said what?? lets ask, this cannot happen to us! they said the bulding was full and no one else was going in, i said but we have tickets and they're numbered right?, "well...." they said "no one was here at 12 or 12:30 and everyone showed up at the same time, and we overbook all the time because not everyone comes", ugh i said great what now?!! so we walked off and i had blisters on my feet from running and trying to keep my heels on, and we went to the tabernacle and watched it there, i was mad! i wanted them to explain to me why if i had tickets i couldn't be in there, i mean what if i had traveled from far away?? on the other hand yeah maybe we were a little late, but it wasn't my fault. There's always next time i guess.
I Loved Conference though, all the talks and the sunday sessions were great, specially watching them from my comfy couch at home!! I loved Dallin H. Oaks's talk, and Ballard's, well everyone's pretty much. It was a good one this time since i really paid attention because Sophie was sleeping.
